For people in my age group, the middle 40’s, we always recollect things from the 70’s and the 80’s our formative years. One topic that is always brought up is vintage TV and The Jeffersons fits that bill to a tee. One of the indelible characters from the show was Ralph the Doorman played by veteran actor, Ned Wertimer, who sadly, has died at age 89.
Wertimer, was a staple for all 11 seasons on the CBS hit sitcom that also starred the late Isabel Sanford and Sherman Hemsley.
Wertimer’s manager Brad Lemack said Tuesday that the 89-year-old actor died at a Los Angeles-area nursing home on Jan. 2, following a November fall at his home in Burbank.
A native of Buffalo, N.Y., and a Navy pilot during World War II, Wertimer had one-off roles on dozens of TV shows from the early 1960s through the late 1980s, including “Car 54 Where Are You?” and “Mary Tyler Moore.
I am sure that Ned is now up there with the rest of the cast of The Jeffersons we have lost sharing a deluxe apartment in the sky… NewzBreaker sends our deepest condolences to the Wertimer family in their time of grief.
