Folsom, California, paid tribute yesterday to iconic “Man in Black,” Johnny Cash, with the debut of the Johnny Cash Trail and Overpass. The first section of the 2.5-mile planned trail opened yesterday, and featured a $3.8-million overpass at Folsom Lake Crossing Road and East Natoma Street. The Sacramento Bee reports that the completed trail will eventually pass through Folsom Prison real estate to link up with existing trails. At its completion, it’s expected to feature two-acre public park and a 40-foot tall statue of Cash, cast in steel.
“At Folsom Prison,” the 1968 album that put both Cash and Folsom back on the map, has currently sold more than 3 million copies. It’s listed as number 88 of the top 500 Greatest Albums of all time by Rolling Stone Magazine.
