While Kaci Hickox has remained negative for Ebola, she is not out of the woods. The virus is known to lay dormant and appear up to 21 days after contact with a host. Despite her medical background as a Registered Nurse, Hickox continues to do as she pleases, including going for a bike ride in Maine.
After the judge had ruled, that failed to protect the public by allowing Hickox to continue to monitor herself one has to wonder if she does test positive for Ebola, who will protect the public. It is clear that the local laws are not in a state to protect the public from Ebola. If the health department cannot quarantine people who have direct exposure to patients who have had Ebola then what hope is there for the public. Hickox, a nurse, should know this better than anyone else. Instead, she chooses to flaunt the laws by exposing the innocent people of Maine to a potential source of Ebola. This is about as far as one can get from Florence Nightingale and her contribution to nursing. Should Kaci Hickox remain a nurse? What is to prevent her from working? Clearly not the judge who heard here case. Perhaps Amanda Bynes can take over management of Hickox’s case.
