Since the landing of NASA’s Mars Rover ‘Opportunity’, many seemingly anomalous things have been documented of the surface of the Red Planet, from small rodent-like creatures, strange lights and far-off Unidentified Flying Objects (UFO), and even objects that appear within range of the rover’s cameras one day, then disappear the next, giving the unsettling feeling that someone, or something, patrols nearby.
The latest anomaly recorded on NASA video appears to show an ancient artifact left over from a civilization that once thrived on Mars, but has since, supposedly, disappeared.
A statue of a humanoid head, carved from native stone and bearing a striking resemblance to ancient Mayan bas-reliefs here on Earth, has been recorded by the pioneering rover.
The statue is approximately 12” in length and according to data gathered from the surrounding strata, is probably centuries old.
NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory, in charge of the mission to Mars, had no comment.
