Burt Reynolds, star of such blockbusters as Smokey and the Bandit and The Longest Yard, is in financial ruin due to health issues and has been forced into selling off his most prized possessions to keep the bill collectors at bay.
At an auction to be held December 11th and 12th, being handled by an exclusive Beverly Hills auction house and entitled Property From the Life and Career of Burt Reynolds hundreds of items from the life and career of the beloved actor will go under the gavel including the leather chaps he wore in The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas, a football helmet from the movie The Longest Yard, and a pair of monogrammed boots he sported in the movie Striptease.
Reynolds had complicated back surgery in 2009 and quintuple heart bypass surgery in 2010. It has also been rumored that his palatial Florida home is threatened with foreclosure.
