It’s official: The Good Wife is getting a spinoff. TGW alums Christine Baranski and Cush Jumbo will star in the new show, which will live on CBS’s streaming platform, CBS All Access, and will premiere in the spring of 2017. It joins the new Star Trek as another original show that will debut on the network proper before moving over to the streaming destination.
“The rumors are true,” CBS boss Les Moonves confirmed at the network’s Upfront presentation on Wednesday. The spinoff will take place a year after the events of the Good Wife series finale, and will introduce new characters to the world created on the show.
TGW creators Robert and Michelle King are co-creating and executive producing the new series as well. The duo has spoken openly about a potential spinoff featuring tertiary characters, like Carrie Preston’s Elsbeth Tascioni.
