What up fam! Wanted to share some experience I had this last week. I have recently picked up a Wii U from Craigslist to play Super Smash Brothers 4 and Pokken Tournament. Which if you are looking to pick up a Wii U I would suggest finding one on Craigslist, don’t pay retail. I wanted to get somewhat competitive with it. So there are two huge draw backs with the Wii U, there isn’t a stock way to have a wired connection and the controllers are all wireless. Input lag isn’t something I want to deal with so I had to work around both of these issues. There is a way to get around the input lag, an adapter that allows you to wire in up-to 4 original GameCube controllers straight the console. Also a USB to Ethernet adapter is required to get the console off Wi-Fi and to reliable speeds with less latency.
I went to my local GameStop to pick up the controller adapter and possible a controller. Normally I’m all about the service at GameStop, maybe the guy was off that day or maybe he just didn’t know. But I bought the adapter and a “wired fight pad” thinking they would work together, not the case. It’s honestly funny that Nintendo would call something a “wired” fight pad but it only plugs into the wireless remote. Why put a wire into something that is still be wireless? Nice troll Nintendo. Now Nintendo does make an updated GameCube controller that I now have and love but if you want a wired controller make sure you don’t get the very misleading wired fight pad they sell.
While I’m talking about Smash I hope you caught the get on my level event that past week. Some of the best smash brother’s games I have ever watched. Congrats to TSM|Leffen and Boreal|Ally on winning their respective smash versions. TSM|Leffen was part of a documentary as well and him winning over C9|Mango, also being some of the most intense melee sets I’ve ever seen, is going to be a highlight in the doc for sure! I’ll be excited to see it when they get it posted. Boreal|Ally also winning over TSM|Zero and representing Canada at the event, the crowd was so hype to see their resident smash competitor place first, especially over the legendary TSM|Zero.
