Some sad news to report out of Beverly Hills this evening. Jeanne Martin, second wife of singer Dean Martin, has passed away following a long battle with cancer. This news comes just a few weeks after the death of her youngest son, singer Ricci Martin, who passed away at the beginning of the month from a pulmonary infraction.
Born Jeanne Biegger in 1927 and the longest of Martin’s three martial unions, Dean and Jeanne were married one week after his divorce from his first wife in 1949, and remained married until 1972. Jeanne would give birth to three of their children, Dean Paul (killed in an air crash in 1987), Gina, and Ricci, as well as raise Martin’s children from his first marriage. Although they divorced, Jeanne and Dean would reconnect after the breakup of his short third marriage, and although Dean would occasionally mention they were to be remarried in press interviews, they simply maintained a close relationship until the end of Dean’s life in 1995. She never remarried. Survived by her children Craig, Gail, Deana, and Gina, as well as 11 grandchildren, Jeanne Martin was 89.
Newzbreaker extends our condolences to the Martin family in their time of grief.
