I don’t know what’s worse working out or the A-holes at the gym? My fitness life has been null and void for many months and my main excuse for getting back on track, is people at the gym. If I lived somewhere warm all year around I’d workout outside where I have plenty of space and minimal distractions, but I live in VA and we experience all four seasons. So, now that’s it’s cold as hell, I have to go sweat inside like EVERYBODY else. Recently, I joined a 24 hour gym, so I can go at times when less people are around to annoy me. Yes, it’s less people, but they still get on my nerves.
Like recently, I figured I’ll go to the gym at 10:30pm on a Friday night because no one will be there. Nope, nope, nope it was packed! None of these people have somewhere to be? No dates, clubs, the movies, Netflix and chill? I went from disappointed to pissed off as soon I walked in. Not only was it crowded but some inconsiderate ass people where having a Couple’s Pregnancy photo-shoot in the gym? Really?
So, you’re going to just be posing and taking 30 thousand photos all over the damn equipment? That’s some bullshit! Not only was this shit annoying but the chick was like barely pregnant! She was at the beer belly stage, where you’re thinking either she’s pregnant or she likes Heineken. To make matters worse when I sat down near them to workout they had to nerve to give me the stank-eye! Yea, I’m going sit my ass right here and use the equipment like it’s supposed to be used, better not say a damn word to me! Man, they had fancy lighting, a real photographer with a wardrobe change and everything. Leaving shoes and camera equipment everywhere and yes, I kicked those people shoes!
Why is it when you’re the only person on the treadmills someone wants to come and use the treadmill right next to yours? Why? I don’t get it! Are they lonely or maybe they want to race? I’ve had people try to keep pace with me on the treadmill, every time I speed up they speed up. News flash, we aren’t going nowhere! I’ve had men want to stretch on my treadmill with me on it? Ain’t no other place to stretch? It scared me when I looked around and some man’s head was a foot away from my ass. Damn, you got to be that close to look at it?
I can’t stand the gym selfie folks too, if you don’t get out of my damn way with that shit! They’ve been posing for so long you don’t know if they are texting or taking a photo. Hurry up, you just did the same pose 9 times already, its fine. I don’t get the people that just walk around the gym. They walk around and sit on every machine and look at their phone. Do one set, walk around some more, look in the mirror, sit down on the bench and look at their phone. These are the people that look fresh as hell. They don’t look winded, sweaty or tired. They just spend 2 hours at the gym, doing nothing. I guess they like chilling there.
Last week I saw a guy set up his laptop and do his homework at the gym. I guess he decided to take advantage of the free WIFI. He was another person that had the nerve to stare at me like I was doing something unusual at the gym. I like to catch people not wiping down the equipment. Sweat all over the machine, I mean it’s glistening in the lights with sweat and they just walk off. I catch their eyes in the middle of their 50th selfie and give them the “People’s eyebrow”. You know that look your mom gives you? The look that says “If you don’t get your ass back over there and clean that shit up” look. They hurry up and grab a cloth and spray bottle.
I can’t stand people that just drop weights everywhere like they’re the hulk or something. Just throwing shit around like they’re at home. Most of the folks in the free weights area just stand around looking at each other, looking big and grunting and groaning. Then you got people on the phone, just talking all loud to whomever. Or like recently the guy with his speakers on just blasting music. He just that comfortable to be the gym’s DJ? Cause everyone would love to hear your songs over the music in their headphones.
I know people are inconsiderate but it seems more noticeable at the gym and maybe I notice it because the gym is not my most favorite place to be.
Thanks again for giving me your time. Have a beautiful day, laugh more and live more.
