As you get older, it seems like someone has robbed you of something and you never noticed it. It’s just that one day you look around and find yourself different from what you thought yourself to be. It’s so hard to let go of the illusion of youth. That’s why I quit trying.
I spend a lot of time in my imagination, so occasionally I have a martini, sit in my zebra chair, and feel a bit like James Bond. Every time he gets old, he gets to replace himself. So, I replace myself in my imagination, and the onset of age doesn’t bother me nearly as bad as I thought it would.
It’s amazing what imagination, a martini and a zebra chair can do. Delusional? Maybe. But I’m twenty years old and good to go. Hold my drink and watchiss.
