On September 20th Angelina Jolie filed divorce from her longtime partner Brad Pitt after 2 years of marriage. They met on the set of the 2005 hit Mr. and Mrs. Smith which caused a media frenzy with rumors sparking about the nature of their relationship before the movie even wrapped.

At the time Brad Pitt was married to Jennifer Aniston and apparently he couldn’t resist the beautiful Angelina. I must say that I once crossed paths with Angelina while working for a limousine company here in Los Angeles. We had the pleasure of providing her car service for the Oscars in 2001. I was standing at the entrance to a tent that she had to pass to make her way to the Red Carpet. She really was divine in her satin white pants suit. A truly beautiful lady. I don’t have any qualms about complimenting a woman. I’m not gay and I never have been, but I guess you could say I had a lady crush on Mrs. Jolie in the past.

It appears that their bond was exceptionally strong. They have 6 children between them, three biological and three adopted. A real Hollywood anomaly. The union has lasted longer than the typical switcheroo of stars and their significant others.

Their split was all over the celebrity gossip sites, and online news outlets yesterday and today as well. From the New York post to TMZ everyone is talking Brangelina. I was quite surprised to see the news of their split. I realize there are so many more important things in the news right now. We just had a terror scare in NY and NJ following the 15th anniversary of 9/11. I just watched the disturbing video of yet another black person by the name of Terence Crutcher being gunned downed in Tulsa Oklahoma by a police officer, and of course the unfortunate shenanigans of our Republican and Democratic presidential candidates.

Honestly some of this stuff was too heavy to do an article on. I’m having a hard week personally and Angelina and Brad were just what I needed to relieve some of my personal stress as well as the angst I feel about these important subjects I just mentioned. I also have management on my tail about pumping out these columns in a timely manner, and besides I’m trying to be an entertainment writer here not a journalist. Please don’t judge me.

Well, looks like the media is going in on Brad claiming Angelina is tired of his boozing and pot smoking. Uh okay. Isn’t she the same person who wore a vial of then husband Billy Bob Thornton’s blood? She has also been open about her own struggle with heroin and cocaine in the past, not to say that she or anyone should be accepting to someone who is battling a drug and or alcohol problem, but come on Brad and her both look like two hippies from Shag Town USA. Citing pot and booze as a reason for the split seems a bit farfetched especially if you’ve seen the trailer for his new movie “Allied” there is something real special about the chemistry between him and his lovely co-star Marion Cotillard. She even has an uncanny resemblance to Angie. Wouldn’t that be a real heavy dose of karma if Brad and his leading lady did indeed have an affair on the set of their movie? Talk about history repeating itself. Geez… Well, I wouldn’t be surprised if this is another sad episode of celebrity musical chairs the love episode.

In closing, I do wish them both the best. Splitting up in the public eye must be dreadful. I hope that their children aren’t suffering too much and that they can raise them in a family setting. Hey maybe there’s a chance they will reconcile. May I suggest they get rid of the kids for a couple of days run off to a chalet somewhere in the Swiss Alps play some Frank and turn off all other electronic devices…Maybe visit a Swiss orphanage and do what they do best make the world a better place with love.
