Tati’s World: It’s Halloween Y’all!
Bring out the decorations your tricks and treats, it’s time for Halloween! I love Halloween and not because I’m a Pagan or candy junkie, I just love to dress up. Yes, I have flare for the dramatics! If I could go to a costume party a few times a year, I would be content. Besides costumes, I don’t care about anything else Halloween. I’m not buying no decorations, who has space to store all that? Pumpkin carving, I’m not doing it! Now you got a funky pumpkin rotting on your front porch.
Before I had my daughter, I would give out candy to the Trick or Treaters. I ain’t giving out no candy, to a big ass kid with no costume. I need to see some creativity before I give you this expensive ass candy. Halloween candy is expensive and now I see some people upping the Trick or Treating game. Last year the houses in my neighborhood where giving away brownies, cookies, glasses of wine and beer to the parents. We got chocolate wasted kids and drunk moms running the streets at night, bound to be some drama. Last year this one house gave out fortune cookies! Now you know they took those stale cookies from work. I threw them cookies in the trash, when London wasn’t looking.

Our Disney World Family Vacation
One of the reasons I love living in Tampa, FL is that I’m in the middle of everything! Anything fun we want to enjoy is just a hop (1 hour or less) a skip (3 hours) or jump (5 or more) away. The discounts as a resident of the Sunshine state aren’t too bad either. This time my family and I went just a hop away to Orlando to enjoy the most popular tourist spot, Walt Disney World!
This trip included all my immediate family which has grown to a decent size, 11 to be exact and we went to enjoy Mickeys Not So Scary Halloween Party in The Magic Kingdom. The last time we got together we enjoyed Myrtle Beach and we thought planning that was stressful but this trip truly tried our patience! What they don’t tell you about the most magical place on earth is there is some serious behind the scenes work to be done first, especially with a big group. They are pretty good about walking you through step by step, but by the time I knew what was going on and got everything done, I didn’t want to hear the word Disney even uttered accidentally! So, if you have a big family, appoint a coordinator and be prepared to be prepared. I was the coordinator this trip and patience is truly a virtue.

You Are Not a Geek, You’re a Gamer: How Gaming Has Evolved
Somewhere in a dimly lit bedroom in an unassuming house on a nondescript street, there sits a hooded figure fixated on an LCD screen. Seemingly lost in a world of images, animations and fantasy action, the figure’s only movements are a subtle yet constant twitching of the thumbs as they tap buttons and bring their onscreen persona to life. This, if you hadn’t already guessed, is how many people imagine a “gamer” to be. However, as technology has evolved and games have become more diverse and interactive, this sheltered stereotypical figure has been forced into the sunlight and, more specifically, into the spotlight.

Chronicles of a Semi-Hot Mom: Coping With The Loss of a Loved One To Prescription Pills & The Aftermath!
For the first few years of my life, it was just my older sister and I. We always wanted an older brother, someone to protect us at the playground and from boys when we grew up, then one day our wish came true. My cousin Aenoy was sent from Indiana for my grandmother to raise. Now I had a big brother figure. We got along like peas and carrots. He made friends easily and kept his end of the bargain up at the playground and later kept the boys in check. As we grew older, he became a Loss Prevention Officer and decided to Join the Army to pay for school and prepare for his future. Little did we know it was just the being of a long story.
Once he arrived at Fort Sill, Oklahoma for basic training in October 2002, he called home to let us know he was safe and would be back for Christmas. The next phone call was a month later, this time it was a Military Doctor asking for his Next of Kin. I didn’t even know I was the one listed, though it made sense. The rest of what I’m about to share with you, won’t. I wouldn’t believe it for myself If I didn’t see it with my own eyes.

Tati’s World: According to London (Tati’s 7 Year Old Daughter)
Hello! This is London! I’ve decided to take over my Mom’s column, FOREVER! Just kidding! OK, well maybe for a little bit. I always wanted to know what she’s doing on her laptop and she never lets me see. But I kept asking and this one time she said I could help, but I’m taking over. I didn’t know what I was going to write about but then I got an idea. I’m going to write about myself! I know you’re wondering if I’m typing this all by myself, yes, I am! OK, maybe my mom’s doing all the work since my little fingers get tired. My mom always says my fingers are useless because I can’t ever pick up anything. I know my fingers work because I like to pick up my phone, my Barbie’s, my wallet and my putty. My fingers are only useless when it’s chores. Nobody likes to do chores, not even my mom likes chores but somebody has to do them. Not me, not me!

“Good morn or evening friends.
Here’s your friendly announcer…
I have serious news to pass on to everybody.
What I’m about to say,
Could mean the world’s disaster,
Could change your joy and laughter to tears and pain…It’s that
Love’s in need of love today.”

How strange that such a wonderful song written well before I was born is still relevant today, sometimes that is the unfortunate magic of music. My own daughter is 11 now and I laughed when I played it for her. She knew it was Stevie but thought that song just came out for the victims of the shootings, that is the amazing magic of music. I sadly, told her it’s not new but in her short time we have gone from some form of positive to undeniable negative.

Tati’s World: The Black Experience In America!
By Tatiauna Miller
Currently our country is experiencing a racial divide, whether some people feel it’s made up or it’s political or media driven, there is a division. I know people aren’t good with change; it’s very hard to rewire our brains to view a situation in a different light. Hell, some of us can’t even train our minds and bodies to eat the right foods; let alone keep an open mind. I’d like to share some of the situations that I’ve encountered as a black female and perhaps change some viewpoints. Welcome to the black experience in America!
Prior to my most recent haircut, I’ve always had long hair. I’m not sure why but it’s always extremely shocking that a black female has long “Real” hair. I don’t know how many times someone has asked me if my hair was “all mine”, “real” or a “wig”? The other assumption is I must be from the Caribbean or Latina, because regular ole black people can’t grow long hair. People have tried to search my scalp to verify that I’m telling the truth.
