Tati’s World: The Black Experience In America!
By Tatiauna Miller
Currently our country is experiencing a racial divide, whether some people feel it’s made up or it’s political or media driven, there is a division. I know people aren’t good with change; it’s very hard to rewire our brains to view a situation in a different light. Hell, some of us can’t even train our minds and bodies to eat the right foods; let alone keep an open mind. I’d like to share some of the situations that I’ve encountered as a black female and perhaps change some viewpoints. Welcome to the black experience in America!
Prior to my most recent haircut, I’ve always had long hair. I’m not sure why but it’s always extremely shocking that a black female has long “Real” hair. I don’t know how many times someone has asked me if my hair was “all mine”, “real” or a “wig”? The other assumption is I must be from the Caribbean or Latina, because regular ole black people can’t grow long hair. People have tried to search my scalp to verify that I’m telling the truth.

The Neighborhood Watch: Domestic Violence Month Is Not Just For Women!
“She Hit Me!” Words we rarely hear a man yell because in general it is not talked about as abuse to men. It’s made into a TV show, called crazy baby mama, crazy ex-girlfriends and it’s a joke. If most people hear a man say “I’m a victim of domestic violence.” people laugh, get confused as to how that is even possible or worse, they blame him.
In our society women are always encouraged to report domestic violence, but if a man is getting throat punched every other night he’s encouraged to shut up and take it. Men are supposed to be strong, invincible pillars of little, if any, emotion. He better not tell nor should he defend himself or he’s automatically considered a coward. The truth is anyone that knowingly abuses another human being is a coward. It is a forgotten rule that if you hit, you better expect to get hit back…unless you’re a man.

Chronicles of a Semi-Hot Mom: Football is Not just Man’s World Cam Newton!
By Arita Sysamout
This week QB Cam Newton from the Carolina Panthers made a comment to a female reporter, saying “it’s funny to hear a woman talk about routes”, Wow! There was a lot of backlash and I’m so glad Cam stirred the pot! I’m sure he’ll be just fine without the Dannon endorsement. From women all over America, we thank you for wearing that “Rosie The Riveter” pin on game day to make amends. We’re good now. That part was sarcasm Cam. I could say you sound better when you strictly talk about football because that humor is super lame. At least we can both agree we hope our kids grow up to be better than what precedes them. It’s 2017 and women still have to prove we have sports knowledge.
The Neighborhood Watch: If OJ Simpson Was White, Would There Be an Uproar With Him Moving To Florida?
By Katrina Broner
When OJ Simpson moves to Florida, I sincerely hope I happen to run into him at a ball game or some other random place or event. I wouldn’t shake his hand because I believe demons and bad luck can transfer but I would definitely say What’s Up!
Any other time that would be impossible. But I happen to live near the same area as his children he’s requested to live with so the chance is bumped up to very slim.

The Mafia Chronicles: The Underworld on Display in “American Made” and “The Deuce”
If you’re looking for an interesting dramatization of what the criminal underworld might have been like several decades ago, you have a couple of options right now.
One is the big-screen version of drug smuggler Barry Seal’s outlaw life in the movie “American Made,” released in theaters late last month. Another is the current HBO crime series “The Deuce,” depicting the sex industry and Mafia rackets in New York City a few years earlier than Seal’s high-flying exploits.
Both feature an array of colorful characters.
Seal was a former commercial airline pilot from Baton Rouge who turned to drug smuggling for Colombia’s deadly Medellin Cartel, importing billions of dollars in illegal narcotics into the U.S. during the 1980s, ultimately basing his operations in Mena, Arkansas, a tiny town with a remote airfield west of Little Rock.

Tati’s World: Things No One Ever Told Me When I Was Pregnant! Sex, Foods, Smells & More…
When I was pregnant I wanted to read all about the “Other stuff” that happens when you’re pregnant. I wanted to know everything that pregnancy can do to a woman’s body. I wanted to know all of this because I believe in being prepared and pregnancy was the longest waiting game ever. I think being pregnant is designed to teach new mothers how to be patient. Your body is saying “Look, you need to learn to wait 9 months for this baby, because you’re going to be waiting for this slow ass child for the rest of your life.” I don’t understand how my kid takes 10 minutes to put on one pant leg but she can undress 30 Barbies and wreck the “Dream House” in under 10 seconds.

Chronicles of a Semi-Hot Mom: Serial Dating, Annoyed Teenagers & the Era of Netflix!
One of the suckiest things about being a single parent is the single part. Until you have your “Eat Pray Love Yourself” moment in life to get you refocused. From every Disney movie to soap opera. It’s been engrained in our brains to believe we grow up, go to school, have a great career, get married, and live happily ever after.
No one can prepare you for when things don’t go accordingly. Just remind yourself that you are and always have been worth it and you can’t expect love from people that don’t love themselves. The good news is you don’t have to participate in the dating game! I’ve had times when my phone was drier than the Sahara Desert and also times when I would have been considered a serial dater. I’m not qualified to give relationship advice however, I do have some funny dating stories that I can look back and laugh at. That’s been my dating life for the last 10 years until I currently took myself off the market. I’ve decided to wait a while and come back out later as a Limited Edition.

Tati’s World: A Trip to a Fancy Salon For a Fancy Hair Cut
I love my curly hair! I love every unwilling strand on my head but it stresses me out. I usually spend a good part of the day on Sunday’s giving myself a pep talk to wash and detangle my hair for the week. I’d rather do 25 other difficult tasks than to do my own hair, it’s a struggle. On the way into work, I was thinking it’s time for a haircut and it’s been a long time. Damn, the last time I had a trim/haircut was almost 2 years ago! Yes, it’s that bad! So I was thinking since it’s been that damn long, I should finally try one of those curly hair cuts. I googled curly haircuts and Deva Cuts popped up. Deva cut is a technique that the stylist uses to cut curly heads while it’s dry. Most people get their hair trimmed when it’s wet but with curly hair, the shape of your hair changes when it’s dry, so this dry cutting process allows for a style that works best for your hair texture and shape.

“It” Becomes the Highest-Grossing Horror Film of All Time
It, the second movie version of Stephen King’s novel about a clown who terrorizes a small town, has surpassed The Exorcist to become the highest-grossing horror movie of all-time at the US box office.
The Stephen King brand, a huge marketing campaign, and the impressive sight of Bill Skarsgård’s Pennywise the circus clown was the perfect recipe record-breaking box-office success. The Exorcist remains the no. 1 box office horror movie of all-time internationally, however, having scored $441.3mn in global revenue, compared to It’s $404.3 mn. An additional caveat is that the classic earned its impressive haul in 1973 and inflation isn’t taken into account when comparing the revenue of the two movies.
