Will Beauty and the Beast Rule the 2017 Box Office?
When you look movies set to dominate the 2017 worldwide box office, there are beauties and there are beasts. How did Fate of the Furious make over a billion dollars while one of the best films of the year, Logan Lucky, bombed? I’ll tell you how: the public (as a whole) doesn’t give a damn about quality; it wants spectacle; it wants CGI cars being chased by a submarine; it doesn’t want (or at least need) Oscar-worthy storytelling.
People now look at movies and ask themselves: is it worth spending cash and seeing in theatre or can I wait and download it at home? It’s a sad state of affairs, but reality is that the public wants to see super heroes, Vin Diesel, and Disney characters on the big screen, while quality sits on the sidelines waiting and collecting awards. Right Moonlight?

The Neighborhood Watch: Dealing With Hurricane Irma!
Tampa Blessed, Florida Strong
“Irma is a MONSTER Hurricane and she is going to devour Florida, everyone is going to damn near die!” Living in Tampa, FL that’s actually pretty close to the media coverage I’ve heard every day for the last 3 weeks about Hurricane Irma.
Yes, Irma was a record breaking, huge hurricane. Yes, with a category 5, death and destruction will be on the menu. Yes, everyone was calling, texting or on Facebook asking if I’m ready to die? In America we have a fond way with sensationalism that in certain situations can be helpful. Making sure the severity of the situation is anticipated, I have no doubt that scaring the hell out of people to evacuate saved thousands of lives. In the places that were hit harder, my heart and prayers are for those who suffered the death and destruction of Irma.
The Sinatra File: This Week with Frank, #3
September 11th 1961. Things were coming to an end between Frank Sinatra and his record label of the preceding eight years, Capitol, and Sinatra couldn’t be happier. Fully immersed for more than a year in the amalgam of his own record label, Reprise, the singer couldn’t wait to fulfill the final recording project of his contract with Capitol, and while he was anxious to get the work over with, the album that would result would show no sign of rush on the part of the vocalist.
While his last album recorded for Capitol was a swingin,’ stompin,’ set of big band tunes, his third with arranger Billy May (Come Swing With Me!), his last album for Capitol would consist of tender, loving ballads and saloon songs, the songs Sinatra cemented his reputation on.
The album’s title: “Point of No Return.”

Tati’s World: Repeat After Me, I Can’t Stand the Washington Redskins!
Living the majority of my life in the DMV area you would think I have developed some love for the Washington Redskins, well I haven’t. I can’t stand the team and during the season I can’t stand the fans either. I feel like I have multiple reasons not to like the team and its fans.
How does the Skins keep getting great players but those players greatness never transfer over to the team? It’s like as soon as someone puts on a Redskins jersey they lose all their superpowers. Is the team cursed? Are the jersey’s made with kryptonite? What about those players that have better success as soon as they leave the team? What is it? How come I feel like no one else sees this but me? Every time the Skins get a new quarterback the whole city has to adopt the dude and hail him as the messiah. They got the guy on every cereal and pizza box, running to the store and buying every damn jersey! As soon as the season starts the guy has two great games and then it gets embarrassing.

Tati’s World: This Grief Thing…
In February of this year, my daughter’s father lost his life to depression. Having to come home and tell my 7 year old daughter, that her father died was the most difficult thing I’ve had to do in my life. It’s one of those moments that will stay with me forever. I can’t forget seeing the shock and grief on her face and feeling her little body shack with the force of her tears as I held her. I remember feeling so much sadness, anger and helplessness, just wishing I could bring him back for her.
My Ex and I had many disagreements and disappointments, but he was always a good person. When he passed people that knew our history asked me if I was sad?

The Sinatra File: This Week with Frank, #2
Thirty six years ago this week, Frank Sinatra was a busy man; having arrived in New York City early in the month of September 1981, Sinatra had two obligations to fulfill in the Big Apple: final recording sessions for his forthcoming saloon album “She Shot Me Down”, as well as an elite concert date at Carnegie Hall.
Having recorded selections throughout April, July and August of that year, Sinatra returned to the old Columbia Recording Studios (where much of his early recording successes of the 1940s took place) on 30th Street, during which he laid down two final selections with arrangements by Gordon Jenkins, conducted by Vincent Falcone, “Hey Look, No Crying” and “Monday Morning Quarterback.”

The Mafia Chronicles: Hot Springs Hotel Favored By Mobsters Faces Closure
One of the important hotels in American Mafia history could be shut down, at least temporarily.
Not the Riviera in Las Vegas, or any of the other notorious, mobbed-up hotels on the legendary Strip: the Stardust, the Sands, the Desert Inn, the Dunes.
Those classic Old Vegas joints are already gone forever.
This one is the Arlington Hotel and Spa in Hot Springs, Arkansas, which recently received an enforcement letter from the city, threatening to close the hotel after an engineering report asserted that the massive, 93-year-old structure is unsafe.

The Art of the Brick Exhibit By Artist Nathan Sawaya (NewzBreaker Review)
The Beauty of A (Lego) Brick
“The first rule of this exhibit…no video or photographs. Put your phones and cameras away please. Thank you and have a great visit!” As we heard this upon entering, there were frustrated moans and then silence as Ivan, the docent, quickly informed us he was just joking!
We stood in a long line that wrapped around the building and into the vacant space of a highway overpass for about 45 minutes to see this amazing spectacle called the “Art of the Brick” in beautiful downtown Tampa. My plan was to take as many damn pictures as possible to prove it was worth the wait! It is a huge collection of original and already famous paintings and sculptures, redone ENTIRELY in Lego Bricks! But wait there’s more…thanks to the Vinik Family Foundation, this event was FREE! The only rule is DO NOT TOUCH THE LEGOS. Sadly, Ivan was still getting paid for his horrible joke.
