Jack the Ripper: The Man, The Legend, The Woman
A person doesn’t have to be a serial killer enthusiast to know the name, Jack the Ripper. Though the heinous murders associated with this killer took place 128 years ago, the name has been far from forgotten.
Perhaps it’s the era in which these murders happened. When you think of the 1880’s gentlemen of sophistication come to mind, not human butchers. But that’s exactly what ‘Jack’ was.
The anatomy of the murders is particularly brutal. The victims, all women and mostly prostitutes had their throats slit before abdominal mutilation. The removal of internal organs from at least three of the victims led to proposals that their killer had some anatomical or surgical knowledge. Or perhaps just very familiar with the female body.

What The Heck Misty Beck? Does a Trump Presidency Mean The End Of The United States?
On November 8, 2016, I woke up feeling jazzed and I had tons of pep in my step. I bounced around my bathroom listening to the election coverage from the television in my bedroom. The anchors were cheery as well. I had CNN on, although I had made it a habit to switch between Fox News and CNN over the past few weeks. I did this to get both sides of the election. If you watch CNN you’re getting a more liberal and in my opinion accurate yet a bit biased reporting. Fox is always biased, they usually had different polling numbers then other stations and the anchors were pretty much pro Trump with the exception of Megyn Kelley who I actually grew to admire, especially after she went head to head with Newt Gingrich. I found his verbal assault on her appalling. To hear him say she was fascinated with sex gave me the heebie-jeebies. He appeared to be fascinated with her until she tried to discuss our now President (Elect) Trump’s leaked Access Hollywood tape.

Pearce’s Picks: The Chris Thomas Band
Well, last night was election night, and I went to a speculation party. While the rest of the country was arguing over which of the candidates they dislike less, I was driving up the local interstate with some great sounds coming out of my car stereo. If my hands weren’t clutching the steering wheel, I’d be taking my hat to the Chris Thomas Band of Jacksonville, Florida for the release of their debut recording, “Only The Beginning.” I was only two songs in, and I was quite captivated by the sound of this unique southeastern United States ensemble.

What The Heck Misty Beck? Chicago Cubs Win the 2016 World Series!
It’s with great pleasure I’m writing about the Chicago Cubs big win against the Cleveland Indians with an 8-7 score in game seven, which lasted a grueling 10 innings. When Game seven was complete, the Cubs were the 2016 World Series champions for the 1st time since 1908! I’m not a huge Baseball fan and I typically don’t watch the sport, but I found the so called “Curse of the Billy Goat” both peculiar and honestly downright amusing. The curse was supposedly placed on the Cubs in 1945 by William Sianis after he brought his goat Murphy to the 1945 World Series between the Cubs and the Detroit Tigers. The stench of his goat was too much for fellow patrons and William was told he had to remove Murphy from the stadium. This enraged Sianis because he apparently bought two box seats one for himself the other for his beloved goat and was kicked out at the 4th inning.
The Sinatra File: The “Swing” Of Things
“Recording with Billy May is like having a bucket of cold water thrown in your face.” — Frank Sinatra
No truer statement in terms of musical orchestration was ever spoken by the Chairman of the Board himself. Second in quality of collaboration only to fellow Sinatra sideman Nelson Riddle, all-around genius Billy May was considered the premiere arranger for the fast driving tempo of brassy big band orchestral arrangements, a legendary reputation he maintained until his untimely death at the age of eighty-seven in 2004.
Although Riddle outranks May slightly when looking at the number of albums they both made over the years with Frank Sinatra, the six projects Sinatra and May joined forces on in the years between the late 1950s and the late 1970s represent not only the pinnacle of May’s arranging for a vocalist, but perhaps the hardest swing-based music Sinatra recorded in his entire career.
