“Wet Hot American Summer” Returns This Friday in Netflix Original Series “First Day of Camp”
If, like me, you were a fan of the irreverent sketch comedy troupe The State, which aired on MTV in the mid 90s, chances are you have also seen the 2001 summer camp comedy Wet Hot American Summer umpteen times.
Directed by State alumnus David Wain (Role Models, Wanderlust), it featured fellow cast mates Michael Showalter and Michael Ian Black, Joe Lo Truglio and Ken Marino, as well as Janeane Garofalo, David Hyde Pierce, Amy Poehler, Judah Friedlander, and early screen appearances by Paul Rudd, Elizabeth Banks, and Bradley Cooper. Before he was a tough-guy TV detective, Christopher Meloni turned in a hilarious performance as Gene, Camp Firewood’s deranged cook.
Murphy’s Top Ten George Harrison Songs – Music News
By Ian Murphy (Who else would it be by?)
When it comes to the Fab Four, the lion’s share of the attention and accolades tend to go to John Lennon and Paul McCartney. This adulation and praise is most assuredly warranted and understood, but let’s show a little love to the “Quiet Beatle”, George Harrison. George’s output (during and after the Beatles) was not quite as prolific as his more celebrated bandmates but at his best, he was right there with them.
Below is a list of my favorite Harrison tunes, with and after the Beatles. This one was tough to compile, as I only had ten slots to fill. George’s body of work was amazing, and his career long, so it really is impossible to narrow it down to ten spots, but I’ve tried my best. If you have a different list of George songs, I can be fairly certain it will not be as good as mine anyway, so take notes here and educate yourself!

Ian Murphy’s Top Ten “Easy Listening” Tunes
By Ian Murphy (Who else would it be by?)
I know, I know. The record just scratched…easy listening? Yes, easy listening. Somewhere in the gigundo haystack of cheesiness (in between anything by Bread, and Michael Franks’ “Monkey See, Monkey Do”) are more than a few golden needles. Some of pop’s best songs and performances have come from artists who at first listen, you’d think they would fail a cup-check. Do you think for a minute that guitar and songwriting maestro Stephen Stills has no cojones for dipping into the soft rock pool? Wrong! If you separate yourself from the schmaltz of these laid back gems and dig a little bit, you could see how great they really are.

The Ballad of Marlon Brando and James Dean – Entertainment News
I’ll admit it. I just don’t get it. The whole James Dean thing. Never have, never will.
There is something about him. He has a captivating presence. That much is undeniable. He cultivated that wounded puppy personality, when if cornered or threatened would sneer and snarl and might just bite. This created quite a confusion of primal urges within the young women of the mid 1950s, nurturing maternal instincts warring with libidinous stirrings which went beyond mere schoolgirl crushes. They were conflicted as to whether they wanted to fix him or fuck him. Probably both.

Ian Murphy’s Top Ten Debut Albums in Rock History
By Ian Murphy (who else would it be by?)
Rock history has seen some absolutely terrific debut albums. They are the culmination of years of hard work and often tend to be the best material the artists will ever put out. The Ramones self-titled debut might come to mind, as could The Doors 1967 eponymous first album and Guns N’ Roses Appetite for Destruction. But how can we quantify something as subjective as musical taste? For starters, we can see how the particular album influenced subsequent genres and styles. Also, its commercial success must come into play as does general innovation and originality. For example, I omitted Britney Spears’ debut (with a tear in my eye, mind you) because even though it was very successful, it did nothing to further musical innovation or songcraft. As much as 13,492,388 teenagers loved that album, it has no place on this list.
Alex Rocco DEAD at 79: Godfather Star Succumbs to Cancer – Breaking Entertainment News
By “Bad” Brad Berkwitt
Alex Rocco the very talented character actor who played Moe Greene in the screen classic, The Godfather passed away yesterday at the age of 79, from cancer. A veteran actor of many great film and TV roles over the years with one of the most recent, playing a reoccurring role on the Starz short-lived, but outstanding series, Magic City was beloved by millions.
The Godfather as many of my readers know is my favorite movie of all time and I truly respected the performance that Rocco gave us in his role as Moe Greene.
NewzBreaker sends our deepest condolences to the Rocco family in their time of grief…
